UNRWA Young Filmmaker Competition for World Refugee Day

 
To mark the World Refugee Day on 20 June 2010, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is accepting material from young filmmakers for the short-film competition.
Your video will be judged by a panel of Palestinian filmmakers, and prizes are given in the age category “below 18″ and “18 to 26 years”. The first prize is $1,500, second prize $1,000 and the third prize $500.  Winning entries will also be shown on World Refugee Day.


ELIGIBILITY

 
* you are 26 years or younger
* have an idea for a video clip

 
YOUR VIDEO

 
is about “will we meet?”, and should be 1 to 5 minutes long. Your video is in avi or mpeg format, and has to be about UNRWA’s work.
 

HOW TO SUBMIT

 
Submit your movie to the nearest Field Office (Jordan: Wadi Al-Seer)

Andalus internship for supporting the cooperating and networking between youth Arabic activists *

 
Andalus institute for tolerance and anti-violence studies announce the start of accepting applications for internships from youth Arabic activists and journalists (non-Egyptians)
The internship includes:
1.      Working in educating human rights and democracy
2.      Working in media monitoring
3.      Working in internet radio station ( www.horytna.net )

 
The program includes visits to some Egyptian human rights and development organizations inside and outside Cairo .

 
The internship duration is one month
Number of opportunities: Eight 
Work hours: 8 hours/day 5 days/week

Youth run internet radio station broadcasting its programs 24 hours aims to disseminating values of tolerance and accepting others and democracy through number of talk shows with human right activists and politicians, news reports, random programs (romantic, comic and human rights).
2.      Education and training program
This program organize trainings on human rights issues and mechanisms of Egyptian parliament ,also it holds workshops and seminars on most hot issues which is considered in the institute’s circle of interest in the Egyptian and Arabic societies.

 
Qualifications or experience required (in all or some of the following segments):
·       Experience in advocacy
·       Human rights, democracy and media research
·       Media or election monitoring
·       Press
·       Human rights
·       Able to manage in a team work
·       Ability to develop ideas and implement it

 
Age of participants: 20 to 30years

 
Andalus institute will cover the following expenses:
·       Plane tickets
·       Accommodation
·       Daily allowance

 
The institute will not cover the visa fees.

DA Fest is International Digital and Electronic Art Festival, organised by the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria. The festival aims to present diverse trends and practices in the fields of digital film&video, sound art, net art, robotics, multimedia performances, installations and other interdisciplinary forms.

 
DA festival launch a call for experimental films for its screening programme at the second edition of the DA FEST, which will take place from 13–17 September 2010.

 
DA is interested in any cutting edge experiments with the moving image that could hardly fit to the traditional genres like fiction, documentary, or music video. Experimental films are not just about technical innovation, but its about new voices and new perspectives.
